Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look mismatched, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Explorers and Strategists tables.
Viewers can look forward to learning which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
